RMA Honored at White House

RMA Armament was honored to be part of the Made in America Product Showcase at the White House on Monday, July 17. The event included one representative company from each state and RMA was honored to represent the state of Iowa.

Attending the showcase were members of congress and the President's cabinet - along with Vice President Mike Pence and President Donald Trump - who spoke with company leaders at displays place around the White House's East Wing.

The Showcase concluded with Pence and Trump giving remarks about what it means for a product to be "American Made" and the pride it brings. The President also signed a proclamation, naming July 17 "Made in America Day" and July 16 - July 22 "Made in America Week."

RMA was also honored to have Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg to give a statement on our company as well.

Here's a sampling of what the event was like through the eyes of the media.

CENTERVILLE, IA – September 29, 2016 – RMA Armament is proud to announce the latest edition to its armor family, the ALPHA Armor Series Level IV (model #1199) hard amor plate. Weighing just 4.4 pounds, it is the now the world's LIGHTEST plate in its class.

RMA's latest product offering further displays it's strength as the world's best research and development team in the hard amor market. Having already developed the strongest armor plate in world, the R&D team at RMA now adds the lightest level IV hard armor solution to its resume in support of police and military personnel around the globe.

To say that I'm excited about our latest level IV plate would be quite the understatement,” said RMA CEO Blake Waldrop. “Our primary goal with every new product is to provide the highest quality protection while balancing cost, weight, thickness, speed, and strength.

Some members of our law enforcement and military communities require the strongest level IV plate in the world while others need the world's lightest level IV plate, which gives them better mobility while still providing the highest level of protection. Now, you can get both from RMA. Our plates provide peace of mind to the officer or operator allowing them to do their job effectively and stay protected during any type of mission.”

In testing at the NIJ certified Oregon Ballistic Laboratory, RMA's Alpha Armor Series Level IV (model #1199) defeated a single round of .30-06 armor piercing ammunition from 50 feet, registering a back-face signature of just 35.58 mm. For compliance to the NIJ 0101.06 level IV standard, a hard armor plate must defeat single .30-06 M2AP round with a BFD of less than 44 mm.

The model #1199 level IV plates are now available for pre-order at www.rmadefense.com and RMA's dealer network.

RMA Moves its Presses

As many RMA users and fans know, our world-class body armor has been in high demand. Because of this demand, RMA has had the need for quite some time to move its manufacturing facilities.

Well, now is that time.

After gaining full support of the City of Centerville (IA) and Appanoose County, RMA has officially moved its manufacturing headquarters to the former US National Guard Armory in southern Iowa.

The 20,200 square foot facility will allow RMA to have full manufacturing capabilities under one roof with the ability for future expansion.

What this move accomplishes:

New Products. While RMA currently manufactures NIJ Certified Level IV and Level III hard armor plates, along with a special rifle threat and IIIa hard and soft armor, we will also roll out new plates to add to our armor line. The plan right now is to manufacture more cost effective Level IV and Level III plates, as well as a III+ plate to defeat the m855 and SS109.

Shorter Lead Times. While we traditionally hold to a lead time of eight weeks on products we've sold out of, we will keep an even healthier amount of inventory on hand, to get products to our customers within a weeks time. However, if we are out of stock on a certain SKU, we would like to keep our lead time to 4-6 weeks, or shorter.

On Site Testing. The move to a former US National Guard Armory has plenty of perks, including a rifle range. Since moving our administrative offices into our new facility one week ago, we have begun work to out fit the rifle range. This will allow us to test all of our hard armor products in house to make sure they exceed standards.

To begin accomplishing these goals, our hope is that it will take 8 weeks or less to get our brand new manufacturing facility up and fully running. While we wish it only took one week to relocate and begin manufacturing, the fact of the matter is, we need to make sure that we are manufacturing our world-class, life saving products to the highest standards. And yes, it does take time.

Thank you for your patience. We will keep you updated on the move!

Below are pictures of what it takes to move our presses! They are being moved as we speak!

RMA Produces the World's Strongest Level IV Armor

Rock Island, IL – September 14, 2015 – RMA's Level IV (Model #1189) NIJ Certified 0101.06 stand-alone ballistic plate defeated SIX .30 cal M2AP (7.62x63) rounds in a special testing at Oregon Ballistic Laboratory on September 10, 2015.

This unprecedented performance test was conducted in OBL's indoor range with barrel mounted 50 feet from the target. Among the six, .30 cal M2AP rounds defeated, a minimum back face deformation (BFD) of 28.72mm was recorded, along with a maximum BFD of 35.87mm.

We are no doubt extremely pleased with the performance of our level IV ceramic plate,” CEO Blake Waldrop states. “We already knew that our patented Level IV design was one of the strongest in the world. Now, we have confirmation that our Level IV stand-alone plate is in fact, the world's strongest.

We want law enforcement and other government entities who purchase and wear our plates to know and understand that when they are utilizing an RMA Level IV plate in their carrier, they don't have to worry about their lives. They simply can focus on doing their job. I believe this plate gives them that peace of mind.”

RMA's Level IV plate earned its initial NIJ 0101.06 certification on March 25, 2014. To earn a Level IV NIJ certification, a stand-alone plate needs to defeat just one .30 cal M2AP round with a maximum BFD below 44mm. But with this latest six hit test, RMA has proven through extensive research and development it has produced the highest level of protection in the world.

Through superior performance and manufacturing achievement, RMA owns the armor industry.

RMA's New SRT Plate

RMA Armament has been hard at work developing many new products since the turn of the calendar year. One of the latest, fully tested plates to hit the market is the Special Rifle Threat (SRT) plate.

This plate is a hybrid plate, bridging the ballistic standards, weight requirements and price point gaps between RMA's IIIa hard and soft armor and its NIJ Certified Level III plate.

The theory behind the development of the SRT plate is to provide the lowest cost/lowest weight solution rifle plate on the market. And this plate does exactly that.

Constructed out of UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene), this plate will defeat a pair of the two most popular rounds out there; the 7.62x39 (AK 47) and the 5.56x45 rounds.

Possibly the best part however, is that this brand new SRT plate weighs just 2.05 lbs!

That means, if you combine a pair of SRT plates with the Shellback Tactical Banshee plate carrier, the total weight of the kit would come in at a hair over 6 lbs., 5 oz.

RMA's Floatable Level III Polyethylene Plates

RMA has been touting it's Level III polyethylene armor plates for years. Its NIJ 0101.06 certification proves that it'll perform to the exact capabilities you need by stopping multiple 7.62x51 FMJ and all small arms munitions.

But because it was designed with the US Navy and Marine Corps in mind, it's also been engineered to be neutral buoyant, in addition to weighing just three pounds.

RMA's exclusive overseas licensee, Vista International Operations, put our Level III plate to the test, proving its worth in the water...

We will be displaying the buoyant Level III polyethylene plate at the Las Vegas Shot Show from January 20-23, while Vista International will have it on display at the INTERSEC show in Dubai, January 18-20.
